When David got an opportunity to go to the battlefield, he happened to hear the threatening speech from Goliath. But the men who were trained to do the battle were describing Goliath’s appearance and the way he has come to defy Israel also the reward that comes along with the one who kills him. David again re-confirms the reward with two different people and wanted to go for it. We read this in I Sam 17.
When everyone was looking at the Goliath and his giant appearance, David was looking at the blessing behind this single man.
Many a time our focus is on the trouble and in the size of it. So we try to look for a quick solution by asking God to remove the trouble or the obstacle from our path. Our wrong prayers are stopping us to receive the blessing, to be elevated and stopping us from growing in faith. We are content to stay in the sophisticated crutches instead of asking God for a supernatural healing, happy to be on life-long medication as the world would suggest instead of believing for a breakthrough from the hereditary sickness, wanting to change jobs and relationships instead of standing and seeing the victory that God bring in the midst of humility.
The Lord allowed Goliath to be the giant stepping stone for David to be recognised. What is your giant stepping stone that you are looking at today? When we fail to recognise the reward that comes from the Lord when we overcome the enemy who threatens us, we miss out on a lot of blessing.
“He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” Rev 3:21. Also, there are so many other rewards that are mentioned in the book of Revelation for an overcomer.
